10. Dreamstreet “It Happens Everytime”
The group made up of Jesse Mccartney, three dudes who looked like they could’ve went on to be on Jersey Shore and some other kid. They had one song. This song flooded commercial breaks on Nickelodeon back in my middle school days. It was so damn catchy that even I owned…own their CD to this day. I’d like to excuse myself while I shoot myself from embarrassment.
9. 5ive “When the Lights Go Out”
Another one hit wonder…but a damn good one. An import to the US, I don’t know of they went on to have other gems in the UK, but at least they’ll go down in my books as having the coolest bowling alley video ever. Well, until my boyfriend Bieber.
8. LFO “Summer Girls”
A rambling of nonsense. Isn’t that all great pop songs? On the serious side, RIP Rich Cronin, may we always remember “girls who wear Abercrombie & Fitch.”
7. O-Town “Liquid Dreams”
When something’s popular, create your own and market that shit. While all boy bands were fabricated, O-Town were created on national television resulting in a song I can’t believe was marketed to children.
6. Menudo “Hold Me”
If O-Town was created, Menudo was a damn conveyor belt. Hit 16 and you’re out. But this factory of adorable Latin chicos gave the world Ricky Martin and this ever infectious tune.
5. 98° “I Do (Cherish You)”
Boy bands top priority is to make hormones go bazerk. This sappy lyrics matched with a shirtless Nick Lachey in the video, that’s
What I’m talking about; delicious.
4. New Edition “Candy Girl”
If helium induced melodies aren’t precious, then there’s no such thing.
3. N*SYNC “Bye, Bye, Bye”
As a die hard Backstreet Boy fan…it pains my 12 year old self to admit lik…loving N*SYNC. I can no longer deny it. And while I was singing along before this song, this is the one I know they’ll be remembered for. It has a badass dance fr God’s sake.
2. New Kids On The Block “Hangin Tough”
Yeah, yeah, yeah…when you write your own then the ultimate boy band can be number 1, but my countdown, my thoughts. Go hang tough in a corner and cry about it.
1. Backstreet Boys “I Want it That Way”
Not even the guys know what it’s about, but do we care? Not at all. It’s pop music…making sense damper it’s amazingness. I could listen to this song 20 minutes past forever. Which is what I plan on doing.
