Nov.30,201010. No Doubt “Bathwater”
Creepy? Yes, but romantic in a weird way. Bathwater is disgusting so it can only be true love to sit in another’s filth. But in the end Gwen, was this about ex Tony or husband Gavin?
9. Back Pocket Memory “Bergerac”
Okay so this one had to be explained to me, but in the end anyone that’d choose death over you not knowing they loved you is a heartwrenching tale.
8. The Summer Set “Punch-Drunk Love”
I once thought this was another Disney band then I realized they weren’t drunk off actual shots.
7. Fall Out Boy “Honorable Mention”
Love isn’t always about winning. Sometimes you got to take it what you can, steal a classic scene from teen cinema and write a song about it.
6. New Found Glory “Hold My Hand”
Not the dudes you want to get romantic with but when they traded dickies for sweater vests and wrote this one everyone was kind of forced to go “awwww.”
5. Blink 182 ” The Rock Show”
This ones more of a tale than a song and come to think of it, who calls it a “rock show?” Old age aside, this song is actually about falling in love at Warped Tour so it made it by default. Plus, to exclude Blink from any rock countdown is seen as a sin to most dudes my age. That’s right dudes. Girls thought they were cute and bought posters. Boys thought they were cool and bought guitars.
4. The Used “Sound Effects and Overdramatics”
“When your pants came off and I turned you over.” Not romantic in the boy band way but sometimes you want less sensual and more well you get the picture.
3. The Starting Line “Playing Favorites”
Acoustic guitars just make me think boy sitting outside my bedroom in moonlight and add these simple and sweet lyrics…*heart melts*
2. Something Corporate “Punk Rock Princess”
Disney paints a princess as this girly thing. Punk Rock is anti whatever The Clash sing about. Put the two together and you have an ivory oxymoron that’ll cause any girl who’s ever been to Warped Tour to swoon.
1. The Ataris “I Won’t Spend Another Night Alone”
This has to be my number one because as an awkward, fat teen, hell even today…I swear this will be the song played at my wedding. It lacks lines of candy and flowers, and instead has Kwik-E Marts and South Central LA.
